i think we've all heard by now that our kitchen sponge harbors the most germs in our houses..more than the toilet!!! i just read a great tip on kitchn.com that says to microwave your WET sponge for 2 minutes to kill 99.9% of the germs festering inside all those precious little holes. (make sure it's wet cuz putting a dry sponge in the microwave can be a fire hazard.)

I'll have to try that one. Thanks for the tip about making sure it's wet before microwaving, apparently microwaves and I don't get along very well! (Remember my egg in the microwave drama)
