obama, oh mama!

first off, i'd like to say how happy i am that we finally have a president who is smart and classy and hopeful! i look forward to seeing what obama has in store for our future.
also, happy birthday (yesterday) to foofer. love you!

readers, how do you eat pomegranate? alex laughed at me because i didn't eat the entire seed and thought it was gross that i just sucked the juice and spat the rest out. haha...i guess it is a little gross, but whatever..i'd rather not have pesky seeds stuck in between my teeth and a stomach ache. for most of the year, i forget about pomegranates, but when they're in season, i realize i love them so much...they're little bursts of sunshine-y goodness in every bite!
i need to go to sleep before i get hungrier.

Isn't that how you're supposed to eat pomegranates? I always thought so... Tell Alex that if you eat the whole seed you'll grow a tree in your belly... duh!

ok...are ethnic people the only ones who eat pomegranates like that??? i was under the assumption that you eat it that way too, marie. actually adam tried pomegrantes for the first time the other day at my dads and he ate the whole thing (with the seeds). we warned him about the stomach ache but he didn't listen and guess what...he had a stomach ache all night.

jews eat pomegranate aroung rosh-hashana (new year)and hannukah season because old tradions say there are 613 seeds in a pomegranate which is the same amount of commandments in the torah. just a little fun fact and maybe helps explain why michigan gets overloaded with them this time of year...
